You’d think we’d had enough after a long, filling lunch at Voyager Estate on Easter Sunday but hey when in Rome! (or the South West of WA) you just keep indulging. Earlier in the year we’d had a really fun time at this half bar/half restaurant hangout and the food was top-notch so we were keen to go again not only to enjoy the food and ambience but for a re-match of the timeless board game Scrabble.
We went upstairs first to The Lawn which is open from Nov to Easter and offers burgers, beers and good tunes. Marc’s 750ml German beer La Sirene Saison from a Melbourne Brewery went down like a treat with his House Burger – beef pattie, prosciutto, swiss cheese, saison relish and aioli and seasoned frittes with aioli. He reckons it was delicious and I had major food envy.
We then moved downstairs to The House and I prepared to win back my self-given title of Scrabble Champion. Marc and Anth checked out the 100 beers on offer and decided on sharing the Belgian 750ml McChouffe Dark Ale.
Anth got his second steak fix of the day with the Porterhouse steak, chimichurri, roasted cherry tomatoes and hand cut chips and reckons it was just as good as the incredible Duo of Butterfield beef we’d had earlier at Voyager Estate.
I was now ready for a few slices of the light and fresh Prawn and pesto pizza to give me the energy to win the game – which I did of course;)
After the victory it was time to chauffeur the boys back to the resort and get stuck into my Easter chocolate.
So if you’re lucky enough to go to Dunsborough, The Pour House is a must-visit for good food, good drinks and good fun.
